NOT a fan!

We learn something new every day. Today I learned that Shawn HATES the Easter Bunny. Their church puts on a breakfast with the Easter Bunny and egg hunt each year and we thought it would be so much fun to take Shawn to.  Well we had a nice breakfast of assorted pastries, baked goods and fruit while watching all the other kids sit ever so sweetly with the bunny.  Once we finished eating we headed over to stand in line, waiting patiently for our turn. The time comes...Daddy Shawn put him down on the Bunny's lap, one glance around to see who had him, annnnnnnnnnnd MELTDOWN!!!!!!!!!! Now usually he is the most personable child you'll meet. He goes to anyone and everyone, including the merry go round worker at the mall the other week. He did just fine with Santa too. But not this guy, no sir! He was hysterical. We even tried it with him on my lap next to the bunny. No go. It was sad...but slightly comical. He'll be able to laugh at it someday. Luckily we still had the egg hunt to look forward to and he recovered enough to participate. He was so excited to find the eggs that he tried to "find" them in other kids baskets! Since that experience went SO awry I'll be taking alternate Easter pictures sometime this week. There's always next year for the Easter Bunny right?? But for now, enjoy his misery!

Spring Has Sprung!

The weather has been SO lovely the past couple days! We have been out on walks at least once a day, playing in the yard, and on Saturday we went to Maple Sugar Day at Fox Chase Farm. Shawn loved all the animals but his favorite were the chickens! He made crafts, got his face painted, chased after bubbles and made friends with a horse. We also got some new outdoor toys for him and he is having a blast. I must say I've thoroughly enjoyed not having to wear jackets and scarves this past week!!

St. Patrick's Day

We took Shawn to the park by our house on St. Paddy's day. This boy LOVES the park! Who wouldn't though right? The swings in particular are his favorite, he laughs hysterically when we push him. It was a fun day, and of course he was wearing his green!!

In Memoriam

One year ago today my family lost an amazing woman. My Great Grandma Carmen, who everyone just called GG, was 93 but still so full of life. She loved to travel, go to casinos,  and get her hair done. But most of all, just be with her family. Me living out here in Philadelphia made our visits less frequent but I am so very thankful that I was able to make it out to visit her in February of last year so she could meet her very first Great-Great Grandchild. It was such a special day and the memories will always stay with me. We were also lucky that my Grandma was able to fly out to California from Arizona as well so we could get a picture of the 5 generations. Rest in peace GG, we love you and miss you every day.

A Family Affair!

We have had a lot of visitors this past week!! Last Tuesday Shawn finally got to meet his cousin Jenna who flew in from Memphis. He took to her right away and we had a great time while she was here!

Shawn LOVES merry go rounds!

Jenna had to leave on Friday but as she was leaving more family were on their way in! Jenna's Dad, Shawn's Great Uncle Mark flew in as well as his Great Aunt Linda, cousin Noelle, Great Aunt Susan and cousin Rachel! Their Mom/Grandma/Great Grandma turned 80 this week so everyone came out to celebrate.  Shawn really enjoyed seeing everyone and did NOT like it when it came time for him to go to bed. I think he thought he was going to miss out on all the fun! It was a weekend full of family, food, fun, laughter, Stocks cake, broken down cars, steaks, pretzels and crazyness!

Potty Time!

We bought Shawn a potty of his very own today. Of course we had to give him a name, so this is Peter the Potty!

So far he just likes to sit on it or climb in it. I, in no way, expect him to just pick up going to the bathroom in there right away but I want him to become familiar with it. I can't stop laughing at it though. It sings when you go to the bathroom and you can flush the handle and there's even a place for a roll of toilet paper.

About Me

My photo
I'm the mother to an amazing son named Shawn who was born in December '08. It's unbelievable the things he teaches me about life, love, and how to be a better person. Not many people can say that they love what they do for a living! There's nothing I love more than capturing the smiles and personalities of people and creating memories that will last a lifetime! My dream would be to travel around the country, or even the world, photographing and documenting life...as I see it!
